Facing the Angry Volcano

Avery and his fearless Grandma Mc set off to find the legendary Poas Volcano, accompanied by. . .

their faithful Jungle guide, Tico-Seth.

They locate the entrance to the volcano path

The trail becomes rough and difficult . . .

Avery finds a jungle vine to cross the treacherous and impassable Jungle trail!

At last! Avery spots a clearing from which the intrepid explorers catch a glimpse . . .

Who catches him just as he loses his footing and nearly plunges into the poisionous gasses of the treacherous volcano!!

"The clouds are gathering, again - we must return before nightfall, or we will never find our way back through the misty Jungle trail.

Tico-Seth leads the way - -

Hiking to the Waterfalls - - -

Los Chorros, 5 minutes away from Grandma Mc's settlement in Costa Rica, is not known to the touristas and gringos -- Jungle Trails to the Water Falls, picnic areas and a few natives around to keep you from getting lost in the Jungle.

• Flat Avery with his bamboo hiking stick, ready to set off on an adventure exploring the mythical Jungle waterfalls of Los Chorros.

• The nearly imperceptible jungle path leads through an impassable jungle teeming with wild beasts and the occasional lost Angora sheep.

• Flat Avery brings his fearless Grandma Mac on all his journeys for companionship and courage.

• The intrepid explorer discovers a weird, prehistoric tree!
• Avery calls his faithful jungle servant Uncle Seth to his side . . .
• The explorers discover a mist-shrouded area used for native feasts, deep in the wilds of far Costa Rica . . .
• The jungle companions pause to contemplate the arduous journey that awaits them.
• And they're ready to go!
• Avery's trusted Jungle Guide discovers a Stone Age vine bridge that may provide them safe passage across the vast chasm mounting the sides of the torrential river!
• And they're off! Avery's trusty manservant Seth lifts him up and carries him across the bridge upon his broad, sculpted shoulders . . .

• The way grows torturous and damp as the explorers pass through countless rocky grottos meandering along the base of vast, craggy, jungle-infested canyons.
• The way is perilous! Our assiduous explorers must ford a raging river on foot as they approach the vast fabled Falls of Los Chorros!
• "Have no fear, my dear master!" Avery's able guide assures him as they enter the misty zone of gravest danger . . .
• Finally Flat Avery's perseverance and fearless singleness of purpose are reaching fruition! Just beyond the bend are the mystical falls of legend, his wise guide assures his master . . .
• The breathtaking lost Falls of Los Chorros are recalled with reverence in the oral histories of local tribes, and are only rarely spoken of in the lands of the white man. Only the most honored and respected of explorers entering these lands from the outside world have viewed them with the naked eye.
• Taking a brief rest at the foot of the falls, Avery and his guide realize that their visit must be brief, as they have forgotten to bring any provisions! They will have to eat the bark and berries of the forest on their return trip as it is . . .
• Flat Avery's guide courageously volunteers to venture into the very heart of the thundering cataract!

• The servant returns swiftly with word of ancient inscriptions he has discovered carved in the rock face!

• Speeding ahead to return with news of his discoveries, Avery dashes across the bridge and forges forward through the brush. Looking back, he see his loyal guide taking up the rear, and is pleased with his capable service.
